Luminance

Three word sentences. Wedding pictures later. It rained today. I shot today. I love it. I love what? Off-camera flash.
Okay, so that wasn’t quite a sentence, but I tried.
1/200 f/14, Flash set at 1/16. I set the camera on self-timer on the tripod, grabbed the flash with my new, el-cheapo, ebay, remote trigger and held it above the flower until the camera fired. f/14 for depth of field, 1/200 to knock out ambient light.

Excellent work!!
Good job. I wish I had taken it. Keep it up.
Very Nice! (Can’t wait to see the wedding pictures!)
here’s another cheer. I also can’t wait to see the wedding pictures!
VERY NICE!
Very nice Benji!
cool! reminds me of one of my shots, a tulip you can see in my portfolio here at the bottom left.
Hey nice work. I like it. You said you used 1/200 to knock out ambient light which I’m asssuming gave you the black background, but how exactly does that work? If you don’t mind letting out a few trade secrets could you let me know how you made this shot. Thanks.
[...] Thanks Elliot for the question on technique for my Luminance. Heh, this is going to abbreviated. I just lost about half a page of carefully thought-out technique. I think I hit the keyboard shortcut for “Back” and lost the entire post. [...]
