Need Your Feedback
August 29th, 2007 by Benji Mast
There are a hundred different ways I could go with Asia trip material. I need feedback so I can spend my time judciously. There are many things that happened that could be talked about and pictures posted of.
What do you like about what I’ve posted of Asia so far? What don’t you like?
Do you expect a day-by-day log of our events with pictures? How many pictures? People pictures or thing pictures?
Or would you rather have more details, little snippets, like “A Story from the East”?
Or you do you expect photography when you come here and want 75-100% photography, with minimal text?
I expect at least 50 or so comments before I post again.
I really enjoy stories about the pictures. I feel like if you do a day-by-day commentary about the whole trip with lots of pictures, then we (the viewers) will just skim over the pictures and not enjoy them. I would say 4-5 pictures per post with stories behind how you got each one.
First of all, I don’t approve of you bribing us to comment before you post.
I would prefer to have some stories of interesting escapades, endeavors, and random Asia pics.
Hmm, I suppose I should comment now. I am really enjoying what you did so far (with the trip). I think I agree with Aaron, 4-5 (or more
) pictures with post telling the story behind them. ‘A Story from the East’ over ‘Bangkok.’
I definitely for vote for a somewhat anecdotal overview of the trip, like the last post. I’m more interested in a thematic overview (like specific reactions, insights, etc.) than a highly-detailed chronological journal. Also, pictures themselves can be a great way of telling a story. In short, accompanying paragraphs are great, but short captions are also great.
(Admittedly, that’s somewhat reflective of my personality. I sometimes have a hard time understanding and visualizing chronological events. Weird, I know, but true.)

You shouldn’t expect (and demand) people to leave that many comments. ‘Cause by the time you get past 20, people are starting to repeat ‘time to update’ over and over, and comments don’t mean anything anymore. (And then you don’t even want fifty.)
But I’ll leave two. =) In my humble opinion…
I really like the story. I wouldn’t mind hearing a couple more of those more personal encounters. BUT I also love the pictures. People pictures are the best, but it’s also fun to see landscapes, etc. that are totally foreign to us Americans.
I enjoy reading chronological journaling the least, but personally I like to have such records for myself. It’s always fun to go back and re-walk the different routes and excursions. Just do whatever you want for memory’s sake…I’m sure we won’t complain. =P
Thanks for the feedback, that is exactly what I am looking for.
And for the record I was joking when I said I was expecting fifty…
Your story below is touching. You do a great job in writing. My opinion about your Asia posting options is an echo to the first comment.
Ppl pictures or thing pictures? Both! :]
For myself, I would appreciate lots of people pictures, and the stories behind them. I know that this is different than the previous comments, but do I have to fit in? NOOOO!!!
I like Aaron’s suggestions except you might not get it done if you feel obligated to write a story about each one–but at least something about each person.
…a combination of people and scenery pictures, but preferably more people than scenery picturs.
Hmmm. Quite a dilemma. Theoretically you should publish a book about your trip complete with stories and photos and then send us all a complimentary copy. Just kidding (though I wouldn’t turn down a book). My personal taste would be something with plenty of photos but also some story line to go along with, maybe a paragraph for every 3-4 pictures. Also some technical info would be much appreciated.
I would be interested in all the pictures you want to post, but quality is more important than quantity.
Those pics and posts are all amazing.
As for the next one…definitely people pics. I can look at people pics for hours even if I don’t know the people. But that’s just my opinion. Never mind it if you don’t want to.
Just keep up the good photography and writing. that story was great.
Just do whats handy and easy for you, I like pics, with a few words under each one.
Wow, guys, thanks for the great feedback. This is exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping to get. What a great bunch of readers! I shall do my best for you.
Alot more pic’s…as well as the stories from your soul ! Those are awesome. When I see all your pictures they tell a story, as well as make me feel like I’ve just visited another country without leaving the comfort of my home.
hey benjamima–waitin’ for the pics!! if it helps any, i’m sorry for that last water i threw on you as you left for the airport! (okay…that wasn’t/isn’t true)
in other words…thailand rocks…can’t wait to see what you come up with…
