Katrina

Katrina is a friend of mine who is in the process of mastering her XTi. A photographer herself, it was an enjoyable experience to shoot someone who was comfortable in front of the camera and knows what looks good.

On this next one I used a new toy, a white umbrella I purchased in India for the equivalent of about $3. I thought it was effective and apparently she did as well, three of the four she picked to get prints of were with the umbrella. Right now I don’t have a real light stand so I use one of those portable, voice-activated, ones that you can use if you buy them enough chocolates, Heidi in this case. :)

Which bench shot?

The sun just went down so I tried to kill ambient light with this one. Exif data is 1/200s (max ss w/flash), f/6.3, and ISO 200. smallblack

The 2nd bench picture stikes my fancy more so than the first. Better composition maybe? Don’t really appreciate the end of the bench left out like that. Just my opinion. :]

    great portraits!

I am wondering if the first picture is over-saturated. Is it on purpose or was it the lighting you shot it in. Just curious. . .
Btw, the first bench picture is my favorite.

All I did to the first was increase highlights with levels. It was underexposed. This increased contrast and therefore saturation.

My favorite was the second one, though all of them are excellent!

Hey Bro! Wow, it looks as if you have a lot of fun. No fair! I don’t have time to do that kind of thing. And Katrina’s natural smile is wonderful.

I’m shooting 3 days in Tennessee and N. Carolina starting tomorrow. Architecture. I’ve been doing a ton more design work these days than photography. I fear I’m getting rusty!

    Great pics!

Where’s the wealth of pics from the Asia trip? Spit ‘em out, son! Should be easy with the improved workflow I taught ya!
