Umbrella
October 2nd, 2007 by Benji Mast
What idiot would set up a shot with two girls and a Thai umbrella in the middle of the lawn after dark?
Don’t answer that.
The purpose of the post is not to show what Kristi and Maria look like holding an umbrella, but rather to show what sort of far-out, creative, stuff you can do with an off-camera flash. You should be able to guess pretty easily where the flash is, but guess anyway.
For around a $100 you can get a manual flash and a wireless remote and open the world of the off-camera light. For a camera all you need is something with a hot shoe, which includes Canon’s G series.
EXIF data: 20s, f/5.6, ISO 800, WB Flash

I would guess that the flash is pointing straight up at the umbrella and spilling a very diffused light over the subjects.
wow! that is way cool! pretty sure i need to look for an umbrella while overseas and next will be the flash! hopefully will have better luck than with the lense! :-]
